Philander fit for Lord's test

South African fast bowler Vernon Philander has been selected for opening test match against England at Lord's as he passed fitness test on Sunday.

Philander sustained an ankle injury while playing county cricket for Sussex. Because of injury he missed practice match of South Africa against Worcester.

According to Cricket South Africa Philander will join South African pace attack consisting of Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel with pace all rounder Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo.

Now South Africa will be hoping the return of their captain Faf du Plessis who is back home for the birth of his first child. In case of Faf not returning for Lord's test Dean Elgar will lead South Africa while Theunis de Bruyn or Aiden Markram will get an opportunity to play in place of Faf.

The first test match against England will be played at Lord's Cricket Ground on July 6.
