Zimbabwe chase 316 with Mire century, creates record

Solomon Mire scored a brilliant century to help Zimbabwe chase down 316 runs against Sri Lanka in the first One Day International held at Galle International Stadium on Friday. Zimbabwe also made record of most runs in Galle making 322 runs earlier made by home team Sri Lanka in the same match. With the win Zimbabwe are 1-0 up in 5-match series.

As man-of-the-match Mire made maiden century in ODIs played 96 balls with 14 fours, Zimbabwe reached 322 runs in 47.4 overs losing their four wickets. Apart from opener Mire, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza made 65 and 67 respectively to help Zimbabwe make a comfortable win.

Earlier Sri Lanka made 316 runs losing five wickets in their 50 overs after choosing to bat winning the toss. For Sri Lanka Kusal Mendis made 86 runs while Upul Tharanga made not out 79 runs.

The next match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be played at the same venue on July 2.
