A day after the opening day match between Nepal Storms and Dubai Warriors was postponed on Monday, on-field actions of the Asian Club Premier League (ACPL) officially began with victories to Sri Lankan Lions and Bangladesh Tigers.

Lions hammered Indian Stars by 53 runs and Tigers earned a narrow three-run victory over Afghanistan Bulls, led by former Pakistani international bowler Rana Naved ul Hasan.

Man-of-the-match Nishan Samarakkody starred with both the bat and ball as Lions made 150-7 from 20 overs in the second match of the day before bunlding out the opponents for just 101 runs in 15 overs.

Samarakkody struck a 44-ball 49 and together with Vishva Gayashan and Dinesh Nakrani helped the team cross 150-run mark. He then returned with the ball to pick up 3-15 and was supported by Karan Walia (3-7) as Stars were dismissed for a below par total.

Aakash Goutal also took 2-21 for Lions. Amar Karanwal topscored for Stars with a 20-ball 19 with Kuldeep Singh (nine) and Gurmeet Singh (nine) were their next best scorers. Gayashan made 33 off 29 and Nakrani chipped in 30 from 20 balls. Kuldeep, Karanwal and Puneet Bhati picked up a wicket each for the Stars.

Earlier in a rain-affected first match that was reduced to 18 overs, Tigers made 101-8 but their bowlers did well to restrict Bulls to 98-7. Quazi Zeeshan Ahmed top scored for Tigers with a 19-ball 27, while Sanjog Binkar and Mohammed Karim made 12 runs each.

Rana Naved picked up 3-9 from four overs, while Pawan Yadav also had the figures of 2-13 from three overs.
