Nepal's leg spinning sensation Sandeep Lamichhane has been nominated for People's Choice Award for the Bajaj Pulsar Sports Award by Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF).

NSJF, the umbrella organisation of Nepali sports journalists, unveiled the five nominees through a press conference on Friday. National football team's prolific goal scorer Nawayug Shrestha, 12th South Asian Games bronze medallist weightlifter Tara Devi Pun, spiker Pratibha Mali and table tennis player Nabita Shrestha are the other nominees.

Sandeep, likened to Australian leg spinning legend Shane Warne during the ICC U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh early this year, is one of the rising star of Nepali cricket.
He had a memorable debut tournament in Bangladesh after he ended up as the second highest leading wicket-taker of the U-19 World Cup with 14 wickets. His performance also included a hat-trick against Ireland in a five-wicket haul.

It was fifth hat-trick in U-19 World Cup history. Sandeep's performance had drawn a widespread media attention as he was compared with Warne by international media, BBC was one of them. The winners of the People's Choice Award will be announced during the award ceremony on July 21.

The winner of the category will be decided through SMS voting and likes in social networking websites.
