Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) defeated Region No 8 (Pokhara) to remain in hunt for the semi-finals of the Pepsi Standard Chartered One Day National Cricket Tournament at the Rangashala grounds on Thursday.
A half century from Suman Shrestha and notable contributions from Rajesh Pulami and Rupesh Srivastav lifted TAC to 205 all out in 48.3 overs. Pokhara were bundled out for just 161 runs with only Rijan Prajoo leading a lonely fight making 74 runs.
It was TAC’s second victory in three matches giving them a fair chance to reach the last four from Group ‘A’ following pool leaders Region No 2 (Birgunj). TAC are tied on four points with Pokhara and APF where a victory over the latter will take them into the semi-finals.
Rupesh was the performer of the day picking up 4-31 from 9.5 overs and Rajesh had 3-27 from five. Rijan smashed 11 boundaries and two sixes in his gritty knock that was untlimately not enough for Pokhara.
Earlier, Suman anchored TAC innings from 30-2 sharing 84 runs for the third wicket with Rajesh. TAC innings though struggled after the fall of Rajesh, they managed to crawl to a reasonable total. Suman made 56 off 107 with six boundaries, while Rajesh and Rupesh made 34 each.
Rajesh hit two boundaries in 58 balls and Rupesh’s 40-ball stay at the crease included four boundaries. No 11 batsman Vikram Sob also chipped in 23 off 19. Raju Gurung took three wickets for Pokhara, while Shiv Subedi and Sushil Kandel had two scalps apiece.
