APF close in on another title

Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club underlined their title credentials with a crushing 82-run victory over Kailali District Cricket Academy (KDCA) in the semi-final of the Ruslan Attariya Cup Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament on Monday.

Batting first, Jyoti Pandey and Karuna Bhandari contributed with the bat leading APF to 150-4 in 20 overs before KDCA found it hard to negotiate with the disciplined bowling attack as they were packed up for just 68 runs in 19.2 overs.

Apart from opener Nitu Bhandari, non other KDCA batswoman managed to score runs in double figures with 10 extra being the second highest for him. Nitu scored 17 from 22 balls with one boundary. Skipper Binu Budha Magar took 3-5 from 1.5 overs for APF with Sarita Magar and Sita Rana Magar getting two scalps apiece.

Jyoti led APF’s top order batting making 40 from 44 balls with seven boundaries. After her departure, Karuna played some attacking shots making a 29-ball 42 hammering six fours and a six. Player-of-the-match Binu’s 15-ball cameo of 21 with three fours helped them reach 150.

Mamata Chaudhary also made 15 from 13 balls with two boundaries and Indu Berma hits a six in her five-ball eight. Kabita Kunwar took 3-23 from four overs, while Anjali Chand and Laxmi Saud had one scalp apiece. APF will play Rising Cricket Women on Wednesday’s final.
