Anil Kumar Sah, once a part of the senior national team, has scored a brilliant 50-ball century in the Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament on Tuesday.
Playing for Bajaj Khadak Warriors, Anil struck first century of the tournament leading his team to a mammoth 186-3 against Bode Barsain Thunders for a convincing 41-run victory. His whirlwind unbeaten innings included eight sixes and seven boundaries.
Apart from Anil, skipper Bibek Yadav clobbered a 17-ball 30, Prashant Rai chipped in 36 off 27 and Pawan Sarraf played a five-ball cameo of 22 not out. Basanta Regmi took two wickets for Thunders.
Thunders crumbled under pressure of a huge target and could only muster 145 all out in 20 overs. Left arm spinner Anil Kharel exploited that pressure to take 4-28 from four overs, while Bhulawan Sahani snapped three wickets.
Thunders captain Siddhant Lohani top scored with 29 and Yogendra Singh Karki made 17.
In another match, Rupani Riders defeated Tilathi Koilaadi Giants by 15 runs. Batting first, opener Amit Yadav scored a 48-ball 46 hitting five fours and a six as Riders made 153-7 in 20 overs. Skipper Dipendra Singh Airee replied with a 39-ball 49 but Giants could only manage 138 all out in 19.3 overs.
Dipendra hit four sixes and three boundaries in his innings. Santosh Karki clubbed a 27-ball 37, while Dipesh Kandel made 28 off 15. Anil Yadav and Sumit Jha picked up two wickets each for Riders.
Earlier, opener Sunil Dhamala had also contributed 32 from 19 balls for Riders. He hit three sixes and as many fours. Lokesh Bam (22), Firdosh Ansari (20) and Niraj Mukhiya (17) were other notable contributors.
Dipesh put an allround show picking up 3-28 from four overs. Dhamala, who had also take a wicket, was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
