Anil Kumar Sah followed up his back-to-back centuries in the Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League with another match-winning half century leading Bajaj Khadak Warriors to the final on Friday.
In the tournament’s penultimate league game Anil’s 49-ball 70 handed Warriors a 27-run victory over TVS Kings Rajbiraj. The Warriors victory also ended hopes for Tilathi Koiladi Giants who were in the hunt for the only final available spot but on net run rate.
Warriors, instead, topped the table and will now meet Rupani Riders.
Anil, now in a long struggle to regain the national team spot, came into the match after smashing consecutive centuries and the opener steered Warriors to an imposing 181-4 in 20 overs. Kings, in reply, were restricted to 154-7.
Rohin Singh smashed a 22-ball 51 not out for Kings hitting five fours and four sixes. Suraj Kurmi made 36 and Prashant Singh contributed 24 to the Kings total. Gomananda Amatya, Bhulawan Sahani and Anil Kharel picked up two wickets each for Warriors.
Earlier, coming into the match with the scores of 100 not out and 113 Anil began from where he had left smacking nine fours and two sixes. Skipper Bibek Yadav also chipped in 37 from 14 deliveries with four sixes and a boundary.
Niraj Yadav (32) and Pawan Sarraf (18) were other notable scorers for Warriors. Robin, Mehboob Alam and Dinesh Adhikari also took a wicket each for Kings.
