Unpredictable all-rounder Mehboob Alam smashed a half century leading Rajdevi Cricket Academy of Rajbiraj into the final of the Madan-Asrit Cup Cricket Tournament in Rajbiraj on Monday.
Rajdevi defeated Purbanchal Cricket Academy of Morang by 29 runs and will now meet HorizonCricket Club of Biratnagar who saw off Purniya Club of Bihar by 18 runs in a low scoring second semi-final.
Alam smashed 52 with four sixes and as many boundaries as Rajdevi made 139-7 in the match that was reduced to 18 overs. Purbanchal were folded for 110-9 in reply. Amit Singh made 33 with four fours and a six with Avinash Karn chipping in 29 that include five boundaries.
Gunanada Rai contributed 15 runs to the total. Manjeet Shrestha was the only Purbanchal batsman to put some runs on the board with the former national team cricketer making 38 in the innings studded with five boundaries and a six. Mukunda Yadav, who had picked up two Rajdevi wickets, made 16 runs.
Jitendra Yadav took three wickets for Rajdevi. Gunananda and Jugal Kishor Chaudhary also took two each. Alam, who also had one victim, was named the man-of-the-match.
In the second semi-final reduced to 15-over-a-side, Horizon made 112-6 on a back of 45 runs from Bibek Jha. Bibek smashed six boundaries and a six. Bhaskar Dube took three wickets for the visitors.
Purniya were restricted to 94-8 after man-of-the-match Pushpa Thapa, Firdosh Ansari and Arsalari Akhtar took two wickets each. Saurav Sinha made 34 runs for the losing side.
