The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has sent Nepali women’s team skipper Rubina Chhetri and her teammate Roshani Bohora are to play Division 1 cricket in Sri Lanka, the Asian cricketing governing body said on it’s official website www.asiancricket.org.
Along with the two Nepali cricketers, Thailand captain Nattaya Boochatham and Sornnarin Tippoch were also picked up by the ACC.
“The cricketers were chosen on the basis of their performance in the ACC Women’s Championship as well as their ability to inspire their team-mates on their return back to their countries for the foreseeable future,” the ACC said on the website.
The four cricketers will play for Palnik Sports Club (Palians) of Colombo in a 50-over Division 1 Women’s League. A Rubina-led Nepal had finished fourth in the ACC Women’s Championship. The Nepal APF Club cricketer Rubina was appointed the skipper of the senior women’s national team from 2012 ACC Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup held in China.
Rubina led the Nepali team that completed a hat-trick of ACC U-19 Women’s Championship in Kuwait in 2012. Her fine leadership in the U-19 tournament also won her a captaincy in the senior team.
