Sandeep to get almost one million from Sanima Bank

Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane has been rewarded for his recent on-field exploits as the leg spin prodigy was give a financial boost by Sanima Bank Limited. 

The Bank, which has been providing Rs 20,000 per month for the bowler as sports scholarship, has doubled up the amount in a new deal which will see the bowler getting Rs 960,000 in two years

"This is an increase in the stipend for him (Sandeep). He has been sensational in recent months and was phenomenal in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in Namibia. He ended up sweeping man-of-the-series award and that coupled with a contract in the IPL," said Bhuwan Dahal, CEO of Sanima Bank. 

Sandeep became the first Nepali player to feature in one of the most expensive Twenty20 tournament in the Indian Premier League after he was purchased by Delhi Daredevils following an auction in Bangalore.

He then took 17 wickets in the Division 2 to become an instrumental player in Nepal's entry into next month's ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. He was the joint leading wicket taker in Namibia.

Along with Sandeep, the Bank also honoured national team skipper Paras Khadka. Cricket Players' Association, Nepal President Pawan Agrawal, comedians Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya were also present to honour the Nepali cricketers.
