Dec 19, 2017 | Cricketingnepal |

Pakistani recruit Israrullah gave an allround display as Pokhara Rhinos produced a clinical display to hammer Chitwan Tigers by 10 wickets to pose themselves as serious title contenders of the TVS Everest Premier League on Tuesday.

In the early game, Tigers wasted a fine partnership between their stand-in skipper Dipendra Singh Airee and opener Anil Mandal to put in a mediocre 113-9 from 20 overs in the board. Rhinos finished with 117-0 in 17.4 overs.

Israrullah, who along with Pakistani counterpart Taj Wali, shared seven Tigers wicket applied brakes on the run flow and returned with the bat to score 61 not out to hand Rhinos a huge victory.

It was the first half century in this season's EPL and the unbeaten 116-run partnership is so far the best this season which is into the second game. Israrullah smashed six sixes and a boundary in 52 deliveries.

Sunil struck 46 from 54 balls with three fours and two sixes. Only Lalit Singh Bhandari was spared by Rhinos batsmen with the left arm fast bowler conceding 12 runs in three overs.

Tigers were indebted to a 67-run third wicket partnership between Dipendra and Anil who bailed out their team from an early wobble of 10-2. Bikram Sob had given the early breakthrough removing opener Dilip Nath and Taj Wali got rid of Sabez Khan for a duck.

Dipendra was at his best notching up a fluent 42 from 32 balls with six boundaries and a six. Dipendra, who worked as a calm ally to Dipendra, scored 32 from 44 with three fours and a six.

Israrullah dismissed both the set batsmen in a space of 11 runs as Tigers went on to lose their last eight wickets with the addition of just 36 runs. None of the middle order batsmen managed to score runs in double figures beside Anil and Dipendra.

Bhim Sharki made eight, while Yogendra Singh Karki (seven) and Sunam Gautam (seven not out) were there next best scorers. Sunam had come from Australia to participate in the tournament.

Israrullah had wonderful debut returning the figures of 4-22 from four overs. Wali picked up 3-21 from four overs. Shakti Gauchan also had a scalp for Rhinos.
