Lalitpur Patriots, one of the six franchises in the TVS Everest Premier League, announced their international recruits for this season including a player who had a stint in Indian Premier League (IPL).

Yogesh Nagar, who played for IPL team Delhi Daredevils, is one of the three Indian recruits announced by Patriots. The tournament regulations oblige every team to include three international recruits and have one player from a talent hunt programme.

Nagar is the most experienced player among the three recruits having also played 18 first class games, 20 List A matches and 49 Twenty20s. Also an off break bowler, Nagar’s highest score in Twenty20 is 44 not out, while 151 not out is his best score in first class cricket. He played for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

Other two Indian players include Baroda cricketer Jaykishan Kolsawala and Delhi’s Subodh Bhati. Both have experience of playing in the Ranji Trophy. Kolsawala has nine first clash, four List A and two Twenty20s to his name, while Bhati has featured in two first class games, 12 List A and 11 Twenty20s.

Patriots also officially announced their marquee player Gyanendra Malla as the skipper of the team. Current U-16 team skipper Rit Gautam, his teammate Pratish GC along with Sumit Jha and Bipin Acharya are the four players tapped in by Patriots through talent hunt programme. Only one will make it to the final squad.

National team leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, veteran allrounder Mehboob Alam, rising talent Kushal Bhurtel and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi are few other well known names in the Patriots. They were bought through an auction along with Shankar Rana, Rajbir Singh, Pawan Sarraf, Sonu Tamang, Rashid Khan and Sandeep Jora.

The EPL begins from December 18 where the six teams will vie for a cash purse of Rs 2.1 million – the biggest amount so far given to the champions in domestic cricket. Kathmandu Kings XI, Biratnagar Warriors, Pokhara Rhinos, Chitwan Tigers and Bhairahawa Gladiators are the other five teams in the EPL.
