Nepal likely to hire batting consultant

Aug 18, 2017 | Cricketingnepal |

After the battering from Afghanistan during the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers Division 1 Asia Qualifier, Nepal is likely to get batting consultant for the ACC U-19 Eastern Region – a qualifying tournament for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup.

The ACC U-19 Eastern Region tournament will be held in Malaysia from September 8-17 and the top two teams will qualify for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.

“We did not bat well enough during the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Singapore. So we are planning to focus more on our batting by bringing in a batting consultant for our boys,” said U-19 coach Binod Das adding they have already begun the process.

We have written to the Asian Cricket Council about hiring a batting consultant and a decision will be taken in a due course. The ACC also seems to positive on letting Nepal hire a batting consultant,” added the former U-19 and national cricket team skipper.

Nepal had the worst display with the bat during the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers as they saw only half century in the tournament through Dipendra Singh Airee.

While Nepal had struggled in the chase of double figure total against lowly opponents, they failed to reach triple figures against new Test entrants Afghanistan in both of the matches.

The U-19 camp including 28 players began on Friday at the TU Stadium grounds.
