Aug 14, 2017 | Cricketingnepal |

National team’s latest entrant Dipendra Singh Airee has been nominated for the People’s Choice Award under the Pulsar Sports Award organised by Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF).

The People’s Choice Award is one of the eight categories in the country’s prestigious sports award which is won through SMS voting. The winners of the award will be announced in a special ceremony slated for September 11.

Dipendra was nominated alongside teen swimmer Gaurika Singh, judoka Phupu Lhamu Khatri, footballer Sujal Shrestha and long distance runner Kanchi Maya Koju.

The Nepal Police Club cricketer had a successful 2073 BS scoring four half centuries – three of them came for the national team. He slammed a half century in his debut tournament, scoring 62 in the second match against Kenya during the ICC World Cricket League Championship in Kathmandu.

He had begun the year with a sensational 90 – during the ACC U-19 Asia Cup – that almost handed Nepal its first ever victory against Sri Lanka in any form of cricket. He followed the 90 with the half century against Kenya and then scored 56 (against Bangladesh) and 60 not out against (Hong Kong) for the national team in the Emerging Teams Cup.

He was the highest scorer for Nepal in the past year scoring 357 runs – 211 for the national team – from eight matches that he had played.
