Former director Ravi Shastri to apply for post of coach

Jun 28, 2017 | Kaushal Adhikari |

Former Indian all rounder Ravi Shastri will be applying for the job of Indian Cricket Team. The team is vacant right now after their former leg spinner Anil Kumble last week resigned from the post of head coach after recently concluded Champions Trophy where India finished second losing against their arch rival Pakistan.

Shastri had already worked as director of team India from August 2014 to him till 2016. Under his tenure as Director India made into the semifinals of 2015 World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup.

Shastri had also applied for the post of 2016 too but was not selected. After his rejection Anil Kumble was appointed as the coach of Indian cricket team.

It is also believed that as Shastri has good relation with Indian captain Virat Kohli, it is likely to appoint Shastri as the coach. At the end of Kumble's tenure both Kumble and Virat had cold relation which might open door to Shastri.
