Team Chauraha Dhangadhi made a clinical finish sweeping past Kathmandu
Goldens to set up a date with Rupandehi Challengers on Thursday's second
Qualifier of the Dhangadhi Premier League on Wednesday.
On a back of good support from the crowd, Churaha stopped Goldens at 123-9
in 20 overs before reaching 127-4 in 18.2 overs for a six-wicket victory.
Challengers had lost to Biratnagar Kings in an early game and Thursday's winner
will take on Kings in the final on Saturday.
After losing opener Raju Rijal (five), Anil Mandal and Prithu Baskota set
Chauraha on course for victory with a 64-run partnership for the second wicket.
Prithu made 22 off 23 balls with two fours and a six.
Anil scored a 49-ball 44 with three fours and a six before losing his
wicket to Manjeet Shrestha. Skipper Paras Khadka was out for 12, while Aarif
Sheikh finished off the match with an 11-ball 22 not out hitting two sixes and
as many fours.
Santosh Bhatta was the pick of the Goldens bowlers taking 2-18 from four
Earlier, Goldens had a decent start after openers Subhendu Pandey (11) and
Naresh Budhayer began with a 41-run stand in 8.3 overs. But Goldens went on to
lose five wickets for just 19 runs as they were reduced to 60-5 in 11.3 overs.
Naresh top scored from the top order with a 38-ball 29 hitting five
boundaries. Youngsters Sumit Maharjan and Rohit Kumar Paudel pushed Goldens
towards a respectable total adding 51 runs for the sixth wicket.
Sumit made a 30-ball 31 with four fours and a six, while Rohit was unbeaten
on 29-ball 31 that included five boundaries. Amar Singh Routela and Lalit
Narayan Rajbanshi too two wickets each for Chauraha.
