Coach duo Jagat Tamatta and Junga Bahadur Thapa have been honoured with 'Dhangadhi Cricket' on the opening of the Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) on Sunday.

Tamatta, the national team head coach, and Thapa were honoured for their contribution to the game, first as players and then as coaches. Thapa has the experience of coaching national women's team for a runners-up trophy in the 2007 ACC Women's Trophy.

He was also the assistant coach during national men's team in a three-day tournament against Hong Kong in 2004. The duo were awarded by DPL organisers Dhangadhi Cricket Academy.

Tamatta has a long list of accolades as a coach and recently he helped Nepal register their first ever victory against Kenya in an ICC World Cricket League Championship match in Kathmandu early this month.

Tamatta has been a key part of the Nepali teams that began to flourish at the international stage and made into the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. Tamatta was then the assistant coach. The Dhangadhi Cricket award was presented to former national team coach Pubudu Dassanayake and Prafulla Vaidya last year.

Tamatta worked under Dassanayake in almost all of the achievement for the national team in recent years. The Dhangadhi Cricket award winners received Rs 25,000 each.
