Nepal defeated Noida Wonders by 40 runs in their third practice match of their India tour ahead of the ICC World Cricket League Championship matches against Kenya at home set for March 11 and 13.
Batting first, a half cenury from opener Sunil Dhamala and Binod Bhandari's cameo lifted Nepal to 248-5 in 50 overs. Sompal Kami then picked up three wickets as Noid Wonders were 208 all out in 47.2 overs.
With in-form stand in skipper Gyanendra Malla pushed down the order, Nepal got off to a decent start after opener Sunil Dhamala and Aasif Sheikh (22) added 51 runs for the first wicket.
After Aasif's departure, Sunil added another 59 runs for the second wicket with Sharad Vesawkar (22) and 45 runs with Aarif Sheikh for the third before losing his wicket. Sunil made 74 off 128 balls with six boundaries.
Aarif made 28 off 57 with two fours before Bhandari lifted the team total with his cameo. Bhandari smashed three fours and two sixes in his 41 not out off 32 balls and shared 57 runs for the fifth wicket with Rajesh Pulami Magar.
Rajesh chipped in 30 off 23 balls hitting two sixes and a four. For Noida, Vikash Mishra took two wickets.
The hosts struggled throughout their chase and it was only about saving blushes for them. Priyam Garg top scored with 44 off 57 with four boundaries and a six. Shivam Sharma made 38 off 36 with four boundaries.
Shakti Gauchan and Sandeep Lamichhane also picked up two wickets each for Nepal.
