Warriors, Gurkhas share points

Sep 24, 2016 | Eddie Van Brooks |

Vishal Warriors and Kantipur Gurkhas had to share points as heavy rain washed out the opening day match of the Wai Wai Everest Premier League on Saturday.

The opening was expected to bring new excitement in domestic cricket but a water-logged pitch at the TU Grounds after one hour of continuous rain meant the day was done without any action on the field.

Off the field, the tournament was officially declared open with the six participating franchises hoisting their team's flag. Youth and Sports Minister Daljit Shripali opened the tournament.

Deepak Bajracharya and his band had to reschedule their performance after rain ruined the few opening hours of the day. The band performed its hit numbers four hours late than the scheduled time.

EPL organisers will expect the weather to clear out on Sunday when Panchakanya Tez take on Colors X-Factor and Sagarmatha Legends meet Jagdamba Rhinos.
