South African captain AB de Villiers will not be in the
team for their one-off ODI against Ireland due to injury. De Villiers who has
been suffering from elbow injury has himself decided to take rest to get fit
before 5-match series against Australia.
De Villiers was out of South African team after suffering
from elbow injury that he gained during Carrebian Premier League during their
tour against New Zealand.
Under his absence Faf du Plessis was the captain of Proteas.
As de Villiers is out of the team du Plessis will lead the team against
Ireland. Rilee Rossouw who has recovered from shoulder injury will be the
substitute of de Villiers.
De Villiers will undergo fitness test next week before the
start of the series against Australia. If he fails to pass the test he will
have to undergo surgery of this left elbow which will force him to be out of
cricket action for six to eight weeks.
