Nepal will play against host team Ireland on
their third game of Group ‘A’ on ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers at Belfast. The match at the Civil
Service Cricket Club in Sormont is going to be the first ever encounter
between the two sides in any format of the game. Defending champions
Ireland currently lead Group 'A' table.
Belfast has seen heavy rain on Saturday where
the match against Nepal and Namibia was washed out and more rain is
predicted for Monday with
huge deluge. Doubts will remain that it will see a full 20-over game provided
clouds don't clear out.
Nepal opened the tournament
with an unconvincing six-wicket victory against USA where it to them
19.4 overs to chase down a lowly 122 and had their match against Namibia
washed out after 7.4 overs were bowled. Nepal stay at the second spot in
Group 'A' with three points from two matches.
The match will be an
opportunity for Nepal to see where they stand and how their batsmen fare
against an average Irish bowling attack and the bowlers handle a an
aggressive set of batsmen. The bright spot for Nepal is
how Ireland batsmen struggled against USA bowling in their 46-run win
that was actually set up by bowlers.
Nepali batsmen must perform
pretty well if they want to win the match while spin attack against two times
title winner Ireland will be crucial for Nepal in their bowling department.
Once again Nepali will by relying on Captain Paras Khadka, middle order batsmen
Gyanendra Malla and Sharad Vesawkar.
Nepal might go with the same
team that played against Namibia.
Probable XI for Nepal :- :- Anil Mandal, Sagar Pun, Gyanendra Malla, Paras Khadka (captain), Sharad Veswkar, Binod Bhandari(wicket keeper), Pradeep Airee, Bashant Regmi, Som Pal Kami, Shakti Gauchan, Jitendra Mukhiya
